Government clarifies its gender pay reporting proposals and issues draft regulations

The government's new draft regulations would require relevant companies to report four categories of differences in their pay for men and women:
 

  1. The difference in mean as well as median pay;

  2. The difference in mean bonus payments;

  3. The number of men and women in each quartile of pay distribution; and

  4. The proportion of male and female employees who received bonus payments.


There is no requirement to publish gender difference for each grade/job title.

The draft regulations would come into force on 1 October 2016. Before then there is to be a further consultation with potential for further change to the eventual requirements companies must meet. Responses to the new consultation must be sent by 11 March 2016. Links to the relevant documents are listed below.
