Compulsory retirement age of 65 to be abolished

With effect from 6 April 2011 an employer will no longer be able to give an employee a “compulsory retirement notice” enforcing the Default Retirement Age of 65. Between 6 April and 1 October 2011 only notices given before 6 April where the retirement is before 1 October 2011 will be effective.
